It seems like every time I try and explain my life, I am saying – it’s been crazy busy. And it’s true! Especially the last 2 years. Since the birth of our son in January 2012, our house has been under construction the entire time. When our kiddo was just 2 months old, the upstairs kitchen and bathroom were completely gutted and 2 months later, the roof on our second floor was removed as part of the addition to be put on our new kitchen. The roof just happened to be removed during a giant rain storm (forecasted to rain for the whole week) and while my husband was on business travel for 2 weeks in China. And the chaos didn’t stop. We were forced to relocate due to water damage (from the roof removal) for 4 months, while the downstairs apartment where we were living in our house was completely gutted (which means basically the whole house was gutted at the same time) and the upstairs was slowly being put back together again. We were making cabinet, appliance, flooring and fixture choices with a 5 month old baby and no timeline for completion on the project. Let’s just say life was interesting. When we moved back downstairs in the fall of 2012, the upstairs was only partially done, but our contractor had finished what we hired him to do. So we were left with a massive DIY project. And we just wrapped up a giant portion of that DIY project in November 2013, right before we hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas in our ‘new’ space. So, needless to say, we are all just coming up for air. And the construction, heck – we all know how life is, that was just one little portion of the chaos that life brings. We had all the up and downs of new parents, new jobs, etc. And we had construction looming over our heads. So needless to say, I had to put Honeyflower on the back burner over the last couple of months, so I could focus on family, finishing construction, MOVING and getting ready for guests. Thanks for bearing with me.
I always regularly update my Etsy shop – so you can always find Honeyflower new product there!
But with all that time I had between the holidays and now, I’ve had plenty of new ideas, and I’m really thrilled to start to share with you some updates on Honeyflower product in addition to new fun prints for the spring and summer (which can’t come soon enough, in my mind!). I don’t plan to be blogging on a super regular basis, but I am going to start an Instagram feed, where I’ll share inspiring photos, occasional giveaways and special sales. You can follow me at @honeyflowerdesigns on Instagram. Hopefully this will keep you all engaged and up to date on what’s new and fun over here. Give me some time to get it going, but it’ll happen.
I am happy to have 2013 be done, but you can see some highlights from the year below. It was a busy year. Here’s hoping 2014 brings lots of fun, less construction and lots more adventures.
